LANDSCAPE - The root of my love for photography is based on traditional Landscapes. Being outdoors while looking for beauty is probably my favorite pastime. Honing my skills in this realm was how I was able to take it to a pro level later on in life. It taught me really how to compose a quality shot.
TRAVEL - During college I was incredibly fortunate to use school to travel the world and receive credit for it. I managed to take an alternative student loan and promptly went to sixteen countries on four continents. During these early years I was shooting 35 mm film and just beginning to dial in my eye for composition. Travel definitely turned me into a camera man, just too many beautiful things I did not want to forget.
COMMERCIAL - As we all know, pretending to work for Nat Geo is fun but does not pay the mortgage. For all my adult life I have been someone who pays my bills solely with photography. Over the years I have been fortunate have been featured on the cover of the the Du Pont Registry, as well as the Sotheby's Collections and Reside Magazines and have been featured in Park City Magazine, Utah Bride & Groom & Western Home Journal just to name a few. Having a wide array of needed skills has allowed me to create a diverse and lasting career, thank you to all my clients & customers.
OUTDOOR REC & LIFESTYLE - I have recently begun to further combine my love of landscape and commercial photography. As someone who often outside and ready to hike, bike, snowboard, surf and fish it was natural for me to begin documenting the good times.. I am a big advocate of turning off the TV and making sure to pursue nature consistently.
CULTURAL & HISTORIC - Being born and raised in Hawaii exposed me to a lot of cultures from across the eastern hemisphere. After moving to the mainland I was exposed to native American as well as early Pioneer history. I try to document the things I come across in the US Southwest since they are continually being forgotten with each generation.
WILDLIFE - There is not much more frightening or exhilarating than coming across a large animal in the wild... and seeing how close you can get to land a better shot. Unlike Landscapes, you can't set up most wildlife shots. They happen on the fly, and in the moment, and that is where the true beauty of wildlife photography lies, it puts you in the moment unlike many things in life.
CITYSCAPE - Shooting in the city brings together my passion for the outdoors and my architectural photo background, I have always enjoyed shooting cities around the world and across America. I do this most often at night, I find the energy of the city to really come through when it gets dark. Unlike with most of my nature photography, the gritty or unsavory parts excite me just as much as the beautiful.
